Will Chennai be lucky this time?

For the past few days GFS is consistently showing 2 UAC’s coming near Tamil nadu.  And it is showing good rains in due for chennai city.

First UAC
1.It has already started its journey towards Tamil nadu coast.
2.It is intensifying slowly @500hpa. level. And likely to descend down to lower levels. but it will be not strong @lower levels.
3.It is likely to come closer to TN coast by 31st may or June 1st 2015.

Second UAC
Too early to talk about second UAC.

Rainfall impact in North Tamil nadu and South Andhra pradesh .

1. moisture is high @500,700hpa levels on 31st may and 1st,2nd June.

2. conditions are favourable for rains to increase in  whole NTN and SAP and including chennai.

3. Madden julian oscillation (MJO)  likely to enter into phase 2, in coming days which will give support to this UAC and it is good for rainfall activity over NTN and SAP.

Southwest monsoon likely to make onset over Kerala mostly on june 1 st.

Rain fails to keep date with city

Chennai’s peak summer is over for now. But the wait for TS remains. Chennai’s bad luck this year with rains continues.

Dry spell expected to continue

Past 2 days extreme heat conditions has reduced in chennai. The same is expected to continue for few more days. Today’s maximum is expected to  be around 38-39c.

Slight drop in max temperature expected

After 5 days of 40+ temperature, Chennai recorded 39.6 C yesterday. The same is expected to continue for a few more days. Chance is rain is very less. Most likely May will end with no more rainfall.

Chennai under severe heat wave

Chennai like other places in India is experiencing severe heat wave conditions. Nungambakkam observatory recorded it’s highest temp of the year yesterday with 42.2 c, the 5th straight 40+ temperature.

Chennai Nungambakkam and meenambakkam recorded the highest temp of the year yet yesterday. Will Chennai record it’s 5th straight 40?

After a slow start to the summer over Chennai, it’s finally rocking. 3rd straight 40 C was recorded in Saturday and many more expected until June end.

There is a slight chance of TS activity over the next 2 days. Will Chennai be lucky?

Dog days finally returns

After a slight delay dog days finally returns to Chennai. Nunga recorded a maximum of  41.1c yesterday. Will this be beaten today?  How many 40+ days will we have this summer.

Uncomfortable days are back

As expected peak summer has started in chennai. Last 2-3 days maximum has been rising rapidly. Yesterday chennai recorded highest of the year at 38.6c. Same dry and hot weather is expected to prevail for next few weeks.

Chennai summer has finally arrived

Yesterday Nungambakkam recorded the max temp of 37.8 c for the year. Over the next few days that record will be beaten many time.  Regular 38’s and 39 is possible this week.
