The primary purpose of the observatory was to spread astronomy among the masses, rather than weather observation.
Quite interesting..
There is definitely a science called astronomy / meteorology based astronomy which has been lost in the process of westernization. Now everyone ridicule it because no one has mastered it and who ever tries to read it are ridiculed as they will be half baked. (need to give a lifetime or 2 for mastering it though).
Only way i see to revive that science is to learn the same 2 – 3 generations, by passing through the knowledge learnt to next generation and next generation person continues from where it is left. By that we may have it in next 7 – 8 decades. May be persons like Suresh (maisuh) who i believe had started learning should do it.
well said, our ancient technology/ science is in no way come second,when compared to modern day science. last 4 or 5 generations only having this syndrome, recent best example for our ancient science success, and knowledge was, last year tnau, rain fall prediction posted contained astro based prediction also, all of us here know the success %,
