Rains to decrease in Tamil Nadu

With no significant system in action and the monsoon axis sticking to Himalayas with extension to north east, Monsoon will take a small break. Meanwhile, the Upper Air Circulation (UAC) over Bangladesh looks weakened. However, a North-South trough dips down from this UAC into North Bay of Bengal and this will bring rains to Jharkhand and Odisha. Rains will also continue in parts of North East India. The Western Disturbance (WD) over Pakistan will give rains to Himachal, Uttarakhand,Kashmir and also along the foot hills of the Himalayas.

Tamil Nadu has been reveling in the much needed rains for the last 4 days. The drought hit Vellore district has smartly moved from deficient to above normal category.However, there will be decrease in rains in the state of Tamil Nadu as the influence of UAC fades away in the State.

Chennai – Cloudy day with temperature to peak around 34-35 C. Rains are expected in isolated parts of the city and suburbs.

Coimbatore – Dry day on the cards with temperature continuing in the range of 31-32 C.

Madurai – It will be a partly cloudy day with max temperature range bound at 34-35 C. There is less chance for rains in the city.

  11. Today as the Sun is getting better Convective Clouds will be forming around Noon resulting in to Moderate Rains from TS by Night.
    Mostly North Tamilnadu will be getting Rains.
    Temperature in Chennai expected to be around 35°C

      • Rains was heavy for 5 mins after that Intensity down and it was only light to moderate rains for 40mins.
        Only 20mm recorded its decent spell though

    North Chennai had around 20mm rain while other parts of city had light rain.

    Light to moderate rain is expected today evening/night for some parts of city.Scattered clouds at 600m height and broken clouds at 3000m height are present ;light drizzle is possible in some parts of city in the morning.

    Light to medium rain is possible in north interior TN districts today.

    Forecast look better tdy for isolated rains in north interior and north tamilnadu and earthnull showing an uac very close to chennai on 26 august so august team we have better chances on 26,27,28 and also moisture levels are gud tdy hope for the best

  29. Guys.. Don’t worry..ts chances looking bright till aug 31.. Except aug 25-27…… Btw last july 26-30 forecast for chennai looks bad.. But we got more rains in those days…break monsoon conditions ll be very helpful for chennai thunder storms…. So august guys be happy

  48. Current IOD and QBO values exactly matching 1918 IOD and QBO values. Even current EL-NINO showing similar trend to 1918 event.

    Chennai got excess rainfall during NEM in 1918. It got 1275mm during NEM.

    TN got normal NEM. It was around 486mm.
    Coming NEM cyclogenesis may happen near coasts. So cyclone OGNI like systems is possible this time

  57. More than half the country has received normal rainfall, says IMD

    Even as fear of drought looms large in some parts of the country, more than half of India has received normal rainfall while some regions in central and southern parts have got deficient rains so far.

    According to the India Meteorological Department data, of the 36 sub-divisions across the country, 20 have received normal monsoon.

    The data shows that 58 per cent of the country has received normal rainfall, 29 per cent witnessed deficient and 13 per cent excess.

    If you thought that the Marina Beach was getting boring, think again. Chennai’s premier beach, on Saturday, got itself its first parasailing attraction with Indian Aero Sports and Science offering the aero sport to thousands of tourists and Chennaiites who throng the Marina’s sands.

    Indian Aero Sports and Science conducted training camps for the police’s Coastal Security Group last month and has been thinking of offering parasailing to the general public for some time. Implementing the facilities and obtaining permission took a while.

    “We had a lot of testing to do before we could get it in place. But now that we have, we will operate everyday from 10 am to 6 pm as long as the weather is favourable,” said T Babu, Director of Indian Aero Sports and Science. The attraction also comes incredibly cheap, compared to similar ones present on the beaches of Goa and a few other coastal cities. The rate per person has been fixed at Rs 300 for school and college students and Rs 500 for others.

The park covers an area of 33,000 hectares and includes 16 lakes in succession, connected by waterfalls.Plitvice is the oldest national park in Southeast Europa.All’interno the park there are also many caves of which only a small part is agibile.I lakes are formed by two rivers: the White River and the Black River, which flow in the river Korana. The waters of these rivers are rich in calcareous salts (mostly calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate), from the dissolution of carbonate rocks forming the geological structure of sito.Questi salts are precipitated by vegetation, forming layers of travertine , a sedimentary rock recently. Over time, these deposits forming real natural dams that act as barriers to water, growing by about a centimeter per year. At one point the water pressure breaks these natural levees, opening new paths in the ground.
    This mechanism, in fact common to all the calcareous water, in Plitvice has assumed a particular importance.
