Wet weather expected for South TN

Chance of heavy rain is high for southern districts of TN and also into Kerala on Sunday and Monday. If lucky Chennai could get a shower, but chances are very less for this to happen.

  1. Unseasonal heavy rains and hailstorm hit several parts of the state on Saturday, damaging and causing severe loss to standing crops.
Unseasonal hailstorm lashes Dholka town in Ahmedabad district on Saturday afternoon.

  2. Rain brings respite from heat

Average of 8 mm of rainfall predicted for the next two days

Surprise showers in the city and the surrounding areas provided much-needed cheer and respite from the heat among the people on Saturday.

While the day began with a light drizzle at 7 a.m. with overcast skies, rains lashed parts of the city after 4 p.m.

While the city has been bearing the brunt of the scorching heat over the last two weeks, the rains came as a pleasant surprise and brought down the temperature in the evening.

Since temperatures during the last two weeks have been at a maximum of 35 degree Celsius, the residents have been battling the heat and complaining about the early onset of summer.

Many residents hoped that the rains would continue for a few more days as the early showers would help the dwindling availability of water in many localities in the city.

According to a forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department, an average of 8 mm of rainfall has been predicted for the next two days.

  10. Rainfall to increase in South Tamil nadu and kerala in next 24 hrs
    – skymet weather

The intensity and spread of rain
is expected to increase over south
Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the
next 24 to 48 hours. South India
    had already been receiving scanty
rainfall since the last few days.
But now, a trough of low pressure
area is expected to bring more
    intense rain in the region.
The trough of low is currently
    sitting near Lakshadweep islands
and adjoining areas of the west
coast. This will induce rains over
    Kerala and parts of south-coastal
Karnataka. In addition to this, a
feeble low pressure area is also
seen over south Tamil Nadu and
adjoining areas of Sri Lanka. This
    weak low pressure area will
trigger rain intensity in parts of
    southern Tamil Nadu.
    Places like
    Pamban, Tiruchchirappalli,
    Tuticorin, and Ramanathapuram
will be affected in Tamil Nadu.
    Meanwhile in Kerala, the low
    pressure area will influence
    Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam ,
    and Alappuzha . Day temperatures
in these regions are expected to
    drop as rain intensifies.
Minimums will also take a dip due
    to elevated rain activity.
    The trough over Lakshadweep and
Kerala, will continue to affect the
    region and adjoining areas, for
the next 24 to 48 hours. Whereas
the weak low pressure area along
the coast of Tamil Nadu will
    become insignificant after a
period of 24 hours or so.

      • yes, to suit hosts nations, it seems they have changed the initial fixtures, this is the first time i’m seeing this type of un certain fixtures, in the high profile tournament.

      • even the above S.F line up is in confusion, S.F fixture depends on the condition Australia / N.Z qualify for the S. F,

The condition for S.F are as below:
S.F1 -If New Zealand qualifies for the semi-finals they will
play in this match unless they play Australia, in which case the team finishing higher in the pools has home ground advantage

S.F -2 If Australia qualifies for the semi-finals they will play in this match unless they play New Zealand, in which case the team finishing higher in the pools has home ground advantage

  22. This time the WC schedule has given lots of confusions.

Whoever plays first QF match will be given as QF1, but this time they have given QF1 for NZL vs WI match which is the last match in QF, that has been confusing lots of people.

Now there is one more chance for Ind to meet Pak in SF.

  23. Heavy unseasonal rains across many states in India have inflicted a telling blow on farmers with their standing crops destroyed and their spirit broken. There can be nothing worse than unseasonal heavy rains for farmers at a time when they are looking forward to harvesting. most of the standing crop of wheat, cotton, jowar would be lost to the unseasonal showers.
