Nothing has changed with our Hurricane forecast! From now until the first week of November we expect the Tropics will be on over-drive! Computer models are now showing 2 0r 3 tropical storms for the first week of September. We expect both September and October to be extremely active in both the Gulf and Atlantic. We also expect a major Hurricane will make landfall in the Gulf as well as the East Coast of the U.S. The Outter Banks Of NC down to the Florida Keys are in danger of a direct hit. A big high pressure over the northern Atlantic is going to build south and force most tropical storms that do form to move from east to west across the Atlantic and then tend to turn northwest as they approach the east coast of the US. The NC coast down to the Florida Keys will be in the target zone as well as anything in between. We expect an additional 12 named storms. We think 7 of those will become Hurricanes with 4 major Hurricanes. As you can see, we still expect a very dangerous season in the Atlantic Basin. Just be sure you have a plan of action for you and your family if you live on the coast! We will keep you up to date! Thanks! Len R. Holliday

Will this be the reason for the forecast predicted by IMD for Chennai for this week ?
Next 3 Days
Weather would mainly dry over west  Rajasthan and  Gujarat  state.
This is the news about yesterday’s rain in coimbatore.I myself was there in coimbatore south area.

http://www.maalaimalar.com/2013/09/02122158/kovai-area-heavy-rain-10-house.html
Not sure where the gauge for coimbatore south area is located.
Imdchennai reported only 3 CM rain.
It was very heavy yesterday and easily it should have been more than 10 cm in those areas(kovai pudur, sundakkamuthur, perur)
IMD Chennai reports only CBE Airport (Peelamedeu area). Peelamedu area is one of the driest places in TN.
CBE agro-29mm.
In detailed report they mentioned coimbatore south as well 3cm only
what to do Mr.Nova…
Namma govt appadi…if IMD is in hands of private..all areas in chennai & TN will have Rain gauge…
Lot of TS in North West of Chennai.
It will approach Chennai ?
Yes Mr.Partha…Usually the NE/E/ENE winds will set by oct 10th itself…but we need a widespread rain…we will get morning TS..
but IMD will accept only when the rain is widespread ….
not only that, it should rain in the interior TN
yes…the same..
TS is amazingly active today
bangalore guys get ready…for third consecu..day..
Hope the TS developed will give some rain today ……
Loads of TS
But they are small in size . will it be strong enough to give decent rainfall ?

Rain has j just started in horamavu. Very very sultry day today. Hoping the rain will bring down the temps quickly
Any rain possible for Chennai today partha why temperature is high for September no thunder showers for last 4 days why tell the reason?
You must be knowing the reason.
Rains should begin from Wednesday as the east coast trough strengthens with a vortex forming of the coast of AP/Northern TN.
I don’t know the reason at all i am the just the leaner. Please tell
ENOS neutral. SWM weakened, we will get TS soon.
Partha-Expecting the Enso report tomorrow..Expecting some changes for sure..
Its due to strengthening of the eastern trough
