  1. Going by the radar animation the cuddalore and karaikal stretch would have received the brunt from the storms

  2. The sto to the west of chennai is sure for the chengalpet and Pondicherry stretch as per the radar animation

  3. Today also it is the stretch south of Tambaram that is going to get the major portion of the rains. Core city might again miss out with some sample rains given for Nunga I suppose

  4. Was just seeing the 3 hour animation on the GIS maps, the storm simply ignores Chennai city, it does not cross Alandur. In fact by the time it crosses Sriperumbudhur it has already losts all of its strength

  5. Here is sp koil we did not get much rain yesterday we had two spells one around 9 pm and another at midnight. both lasted for short period only will hope the next one will last at least one hour.

  6. Rare good day for India in tennis singles

Somdev won his first round in 5 sets

And Rajeev Ram trashed his opponent, though he is American, he has his traits in India

  7. @KEA– yes, somdev made our day..Saina eclipsed Schenk yday night..a TS tonight will lighten the economy gloom

  8. Will the Indian Rupee touch 70 today, will Chennai get lucky with TS this evening and finally can Federer survive another day.

A lot to look forward to today.

    • Thought we would have a respite, with a cool wind blowing in the morning. Lets hope atleast the heat creates enough disturbance for a TS or two in the evening, otherwise its going to be a long uncomfortable weekend.

  16. When I looked at the radar yesterday, I thought KAR’s residence will surely get atleast 100 mm. Seems like it didn’t rain what the radar promised.

In fact not even half of that.

  18. Hi Bloggers…was in the road between 10am and now..it is a blistering hot day..blue skies..can really test the highs today..saw Guindy and and Saidapet areas wet with yday night rains

    • Nothing like torrential drizzles to mess the next day up with high humidity AND blistering heat. Sometimes, its better if it does not rain in Chennai

  19. Yesterday was the first thunder i heard after May 2013…Signals september is just 2 days away…So expect such heavy downpours with big thunders and lightning…Anything is possible..it can rain any time of the day…100mm is even possible in an hour…Hope pondicherry’s August fortunes turns towards chennai in september..

  20. @parthsari– yes,it is a steep drop in temp..now we have to wait for the blues to yellows to browns to reds

    • CAN WE EXPECT SOME DECENT RAINFALL OVER THE NEXT 2 – 3 DAYS AS IMD HAVE FORECASTED HEAVY RAIN TILL 01st SEP MORNING. ?

COASTAL DISTRICTS or INTERIOR TN . WHICH WILL GET BENEFITTED FROM THE SYSTEM ?

    • Will the system get strength and give decent rainfall or it will move westwards?

The 2005 BIG rainfall was caused by a system which developed in Gulf of Mannar and adj. areas I think..

      Is that right ?

  23. Super prediction Partha sir! But problem is, SWM flow is weak, so storms will struggle to reach us

  24. @rame

OMG!! You have no idea about 2005!! About 10 LPA or depressions hit Tamil Nadu that year!!! No system went to the Gulf of Mannar
