  3. How to recall a sent mail on Gmail

In the Compose tab of Gmail, as you start typing out in the ‘To’ field, you are prompted with probable email addresses. It’s convenient, no doubt, especially when you can’t recall the email ID. But it could lead to an embarrassment, when in a hurry you end up sending the mail to the wrong person.

Gmail has an option, wherein within a specified period of time, you can recall the mail you sent. To enable this useful tool, click on the ‘Gear’ symbol on the top right of the email page, and go to ‘Settings’. Click on ‘Labs’ in the series of options you see on the top of the page.

Scroll down and look for the ‘Undo Send’ option. Click Enable. Scroll down and click on ‘Save changes’.

Click on ‘General’ in the top row of options. Scroll down and look for the ‘Undo Send’ option. Check ‘Enable Undo Send’, and choose from the options for cancellation period. The minimum is 5 seconds and the maximum is 30 seconds. Scroll down and Save Changes. Now, when you send a mail, it wouldn’t go for the period of time you have selected, within which you can Undo Send.

  4. The two officials of the Horticulture Department, Imphal, who were kidnapped by the militants of the Kuki Revolutionary Army (United) on August 8 in Senapati district were rescued by police.

Disclosing this to journalists Home Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei said that the repeated violation of the ground rules of the suspension of operations by some underground organisations shall be brought to the notice of the Joint Monitoring Group for necessary actions.

Mr. Gangmei is not happy that some militant groups have been misusing the provisions of the suspension of operations to kidnap officials for extracting ransom.

  5. A huge explosion accompanied by a fire rocked an Indian Navy submarine docked in the high security Naval dockyard early on Wednesday, officials said.

The blast followed by a fire occurred shortly after midnight on the INS Sindhurakshak submarine.

Many sailors on board the submarine reportedly jumped off to safety.

“However, there is likelihood of some personnel being trapped inside. The details are being ascertained,” an official defence ministry statement issued at 3.15 a.m. said.

The details of other casualty figures were not immediately available though some injured sailors have been rushed to naval hospital INHS Ashvini in Colaba.

The cause of the explosion and blaze, as well as the extent of damage to the submarine and naval properties, is still not known.

At least 16 fire tenders of Mumbai Fire Brigade and Mumbai Port Trust were rushed to assist the naval fire brigade to douse the conflagration, the smoke emanating from which could be seen in many parts of south Mumbai.

A fire brigade official said that around 3 a.m., the blaze had been brought under control and prevented from spreading to other vessels docked in the vicinity.

The blast was first heard ashore by deputy chief fire office P.S. Rahandale who was on leave and attending a private engagement near the Gateway of India promenade. He immediately alerted the fire brigade and other emergency services.

While SSTs in the eastern equatorial Pacific were below normal in July, it is likely that these cool anomalies will weaken during the northern hemisphere summer, which means that La Niña conditions will not develop.

ENSO neutral conditions are likely to continue during the northern hemisphere autumn and winter.
