The 3rd August 2010 Solar Storm, has damaged many Satellites and many DTH services were affected or nor been received. I had good pick up in my Short wave radio, I was able to pick feeble frequencies also some CME sounds as it hit the magnetosphere and then ionosphere.
@karthikraghavan They have updated in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloudburst ..it is a world record..The rain was very sporadic and it did not cover a very large area.The weather station recorded only 12 mm but the area were the damage was severe recorded a maximum of 5 cm in 1 min.if it is was only 12 mm then there would been very less damage but that is not the case

There is no official rainfall figure for the “fatal hours in the affected areas” available since it did not have an observatory in the region.
Yesterday North of chennai has got good rains
Tada (Nellore dt), ISRO (Sriharikota) and Ponneri (Thiruvallur dt) 3 each,
Kuzhithurai is getting heavy rains from afternoon
Madurantakam 4cm as expected 😦 😦
