  1. Oops, disappointing to note that we wont have rain for the next few days.

When can we expect the next spell of rainfall in Chennai?

  2. This statement conform in todays weather report:

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala 😛

    okay and as usual

    Bangalore AP 26 19
    Chennai AP 34 27

    😀 😀

  3. Jus saw a programme in Nat Geo…”How the universe works”…was excellent..its a must watch..it emphasises how every thing in universe happens by mere luck and chance……its lik at the beginning of our solar system it wud hav been 99.9% to 0.1%in the favor of no formation of life…but its a great series of co incidence and chance that Life has formed!…n that we are here predictin weather around chennai 😉

  4. Earth’s magnetic field is still reverberating from the CME impact of August 3rd, which sparked auroras as far south as Wisconsin and Iowa in the United States. Analysts believe a second CME is not far behind it, due to arrive on August 5th. A second impact could re-energize the fading geomagnetic storm and spark a new round of Northern Lights.

if the Earth’s Magnetic field is breached all would have died. That CME is very dangerous, people will burn to death and things will melt in high latitude areas on both sides

Central part of Earth would have been soaked with radiation and would have affected with radiation damage
At the height of the August 3rd display “the whole sky over northern Quebec filled with green and purple. The display was visible till Wisconsin Latitude and in Southern skies till Sydney Latitude.

Northern & Southern extreme part of Earth they should take care from medical issues take precautions like sun’s cream as some part would have dripped to the lower Atmosphere.

The 3rd August 2010 Solar Storm, has damaged many Satellites and many DTH services were affected or nor been received. I had good pick up in my Short wave radio, I was able to pick feeble frequencies also some CME sounds as it hit the magnetosphere and then ionosphere.

  5. la nina to strengthen and continue well into early part of 2011.

This means nothing but a super NEM. lets hope predictions stay true.

  6. it seems it is pouring from Kalpakkam/Sadras to Cuddalore. Huge red spots. Right from below of Chingleput to the coast it is deep orange.

  7. Cloud busrt in Leh region bought 5 cm in 1 minute.unbeleivable..It would be as if loads of water gushing down from the sky.

  8. Karthik,

That was a place near by which got 12mm.

There is no official rainfall figure for the “fatal hours in the affected areas” available since it did not have an observatory in the region.

  9. @karthikraghavan They have updated in wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloudburst ..it is a world record..The rain was very sporadic and it did not cover a very large area. The weather station recorded only 12 mm but the area were the damage was severe recorded a maximum of 5 cm in 1 min.if it is was only 12 mm then there would been very less damage but that is not the case

  10. Chennai has crossed 300 mm after today’s rain for the SWM.
Bangalore back to red. Its -8 mm below normal
