IMD an JTWC maintain hat it will cross between Chennai and Nagapatinam, close to Puducherry. Need to wait and see its impact on Chennai.

Disappointment for chennai. The system seems to be hading towards karaikal. Appears like it would close just north of karaikal . Karaikal, chidambaram, mayiladuthurai and Neyveli is going to get smashed if the cyclone doesn’t loose more than 10% of its current vigor.

In Intensity Thane may not be like Jal, but when it comes to bringing rains to Chennai, I think Thane is following Jal’s path. Although radar looks full of orange and red spots, they seem to dissipate once they are near chennai.

let it make a landfall in pondi but wen it make landfall there,am sure the heaviest convectional clouds will be on n -nw quadrant..tat is morethan enough to make floods in chennai…

THE CYCLONE IS ALSO MOVING OVER WATERS WITH LOWER HEAT
CONTENT THAT SHOULD, ALONG WITH INCREASING VERTICAL WIND SHEAR AND
DECREASING OUTFLOW, INDUCE SOME WEAKENING PRIOR TO LANDFALL. AFTER
LANDFALL, INTERACTION WITH ROUGH TERRAIN WELL INLAND FROM THE
RELATIVELY FLAT COASTAL AREA WILL LEAD TO STEADY DISSIPATION
