This is a totally wrong news. We astronomers don’t buy this! This hoax fake news is on rounds since 2004! I just fed up explaining this this scientifically in correct news. As from space that temple is just a dot and that place has no such so called power to stop a satellite! No NASA scientists came there and No NASA spacecraft except ISS pass over India except US Military spy satellites. I wonder why people just post news without checking its bonafides.
You are right! Once the system crosses the Indian coast there will be a change in wind pattern (SW). This will halt our rains if that happens. But, if he system moves away from the coast, it will not change the wind pattern and we will continue to receive heavy rains!
ya…i will move away 4m blog, wen it rains outside….mazhai vantha ellarum vandu, orae raamayanathae paaduvanga……..”its pouring”.. fed up so i just move away wen it rains..
A system formation south of comrin area will be of no use to chennai and north tamil nadu. in fact that is not the place normally any system can form and give rains to chennai / south ap.
the present wet spell is not due to that. possibly another low pressure near north tamil nadu coast could be the reason. IMD is unable to predict properly.
radar is quite clear that there would be some more rains to chennai till night.
IMD in its mid-day report has stated that the system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and concentrate in to a depression over Maldives and Lakshadweep areas during next 24 hours .
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea off south Tamilnadu and Kerala coasts and Lakshadweep area during next 48 hours.
Aruns1411 – if you are wrong and this is not the end of NEM what will you do if you are proved wrong ? Just eating your words may not be good enough for some people
A low pressure area has formed over comorin area and neighbourhood and is well marked with association upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto midtropospheric levels. A trough in easterlies extends from this system to westcentral Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and concentrate in to a depression over Maldives and Lakshadweep areas during next 24 hours
Radar promises more heavy showers as entire east reflects lot of big red lines moving towards west. in fact already places like triplicane startd getting heavy rains.
what is your view
I hope so…the windows could not be locked…the wind was so strong…almost lost a window glass here….before i could bolt it…the wind is almost a gale force…
I think rains would recommence soon. we may get one or two heavy spells also. probably before this evening we might cross another 6 to 7 centimeters of rain from 8.30 AM. radar continues to be promising. what is your view.
those who see radar, please see the closed range radar which is cent percent accurate. lot of big red lines exactly 50 kms, east, north east of chennai. we can expect showers quite heavy in another 1 or 2 hours. going by the long range radar picture, we can expect showers at least till evening.
now places near mahabalipuram, kalpakkam no rains right from morning. the rain belt now slowly shitfted towards chennai and south coastal ap.
but any time situations can change. In my area ( Kodambakkam), at least it would have 4 centimeters of rain in the last 45 minuts. now the sky is totally clear.
The close range radar continues to pick up red dotted lines with huge breadth which ensures intermittent spells for chennai city as well.
but the red lines should move from port/ennore to get huge quantity of rains. Still for this season we are yet to receive about 8 to 10 centimeters of rain within one hour. of course only depressions can bring such huge rainfall. let us see.
already it looks like a new system developing east of nagai as per latest sat. picture.
It was unfortunate still rain belt not covered heart of chennai. Places beyond guindy battered several times. We have to get cloud from ennort and port north east of chennai so that the entire north, central and south chennai get coverd.
kea observatory showed very poor rain rate so far from this system. Even kodambakkam area got some heavy showers in the last 30 minutes. could be 20 millimeters.
but still lot of spells are likely before midnight.
I somehow not able to get what is there in arabian sea that all systems are moving towards west …. North TN, AP & Orissa has remained almost dry during this NEM… This NEM is quite strange.
System has now moved West – Northwest ward, currently at 4.1N 79.3 E. Is it possible that it can continue along with eastern coast in the BOB instead of moving to Arabian sea? Experts, what’s your thoughts?
Kea– when I see the prediction.xls sheet, you seem to have missed my prediction of 425mm..I will be happy to see Chennai sail past this figure by tonite..but do include my prediction as well..tks
And how – I remember you were the one who clearly said “Its just a passing shower”. I was categorical that it was NOT….and you brushed me aside…mind taking my observations more seriously next time tbalaj ?
Have u removed kuzhithurai from heavy rainfall regions doc??..i cunt see it there..anyways,it sounds absurd to include it der, with an average of 140cm…u shud have pasted it in Other rainfall regions doc…..anyways ,did it cross 75cm for the year?
Meena says tata-buh bye to korattur…better luck next time…but the truth is interior korattur can never beat the rainiest place in chennai region – Meenambakkam!
NOGAPS predicts the system to hit YEMEN coast…
GFS predicts Pakistan to take the direct hit….

Check out the BBC Forecast.. it shows the current system is again moving to OMAN only…
So, Our NEM Rains will bang next month also…
By: rajkmr on November 25, 2011
at 5:11 pm
Our NEM rains for next month will be active..only if the present system doesn’t cross our indian coast…
If it moves away from our indian coast, then our NEM rains hopes for next month will be alive..
By: rajkmr on November 25, 2011
at 5:01 pm
You are right! Once the system crosses the Indian coast there will be a change in wind pattern (SW). This will halt our rains if that happens. But, if he system moves away from the coast, it will not change the wind pattern and we will continue to receive heavy rains!

A low pressure area has formed over comorin area and neighbourhood and is well marked with association upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto midtropospheric levels. A trough in easterlies extends from this system to westcentral Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and concentrate in to a depression over Maldives and Lakshadweep areas during next 24 hours

those who see radar, please see the closed range radar which is cent percent accurate. lot of big red lines exactly 50 kms, east, north east of chennai. we can expect showers quite heavy in another 1 or 2 hours. going by the long range radar picture, we can expect showers at least till evening.
now places near mahabalipuram, kalpakkam no rains right from morning. the rain belt now slowly shitfted towards chennai and south coastal ap.
but any time situations can change.
