  8. @ kea… yes went out … Disappointing today as there was no rain !!!… are we expecting continuous rain from tomorrow onwards? We had tremendous hot weather during this summer and we anticipated that this will be a wet year during NEM.. But so far, i dont see such sign of wet.. !!

Sri,most models wil come up with 70% of the same results….sum models differ with considering inputs….they give a next week prediction by considering tis week data’s like sst,windpattern,cape factor ,upper level wind,steering winds,jetstream,high pressure area ,shear value and many other factors too…if any change occurs in the considered data ,v may miss our natural gift….(example diwali cyclone)……wen it comes to reliablity,i wil go wit 70%….

  19. Kea,

    Looking at the global models that are differing day by day I feel we may not even have lp’s giving rains for us.

    I think our NEM may fail this year. We may get the total annual rainfall of 1400mm this year.

    But it would be difficult to get 85 cm of NEM i think so :(

  22. Chennai rains took a day off today because of the foll reasons:

    1) Push effect of ab circulation bringing useless clouds from central India to AP and North TN and hampering the progress of the easterlies

    2) No system in bay close to tn coast which assisted the push effect

    But, BBC predicts heavy rains till Friday for entire coast!

  25. GFS was spot on the Deep Depression that crossed Bangladesh/Burma border during third week of october

    And it predicted the current Depression near Arabian Peninsula which is active.

    So dont loose hope. The November 10th cyclone is still alive according to GFS
